Interviewing and Hiring in the Remote World
Life as we know it has changed. Our everyday lives have evolved and certainly, so has the interviewing and hiring process.
What will happen moving forward?
Interviewing remotely is fast, precise and allows you to move through the process without all the delays in traveling, scheduling and more.
Another benefit is the opportunity to work with someone regardless of their geographic location. If you are hiring a remote person, full time, and you don’t care where they live, virtual hiring is the best and most efficient way to hire. The opportunity to interview top talent regardless where they live, is diversity and inclusion at its very best.
While there really is nothing quite like an in-person meeting, we are given a rare opportunity to pivot and seek solutions outside of our immediate location. Interviewing remotely will give you insight into them as a person, a communicator and as an overall employee. How a person interacts with others, how they see themselves working in the company and in the culture you are providing, is still the only way to see if you are making a strong and smart hire.
Remote is the now, but is it the future?
We have all had a taste of it now for about a year. While there are, and always will be, people that want to come into the office, the workplace has been able to diversify greatly and allowed employees to hone in on their zone of genius.
Wondering whether we will return to that level of “normal”, has me feeling excited to be in a place of pivoting and actively seeking solutions in business. Taking this time to learn our new normal will only create more space for opportunity to reveal itself and for growth to happen.
