Transparency & Honesty While Interviewing
Transparency implies openness, communication, and accountability. Transparency is practiced in companies, organizations, administrations, and communities AND WHEN YOU INTERVIEW! Interviewing in today’s world is a bit off, will you all agree? So, when you do finally get that interview, don’t argue with the person conducting the interview. It just isn’t pretty. Also, don’t take 5 minutes to answer a question, you will lose their attention. Yes, you will.
And say that you will commute for over 90 minutes each way, YOU KNOW YOU WILL NEVER MAKE IT PAST 3 MONTHS. And mostly, when asked about your status, availability, and skills, TELL US THE TRUTH. It only really hurts you, the interviewee, if you don’t. You will be caught in a lie. We will call you out on it. AND WE WILL GET A BIT ANNOYED THAT YOU WASTED OUR TIME.
Interviewing is hard, no joke. Regardless of the stage you are in, regardless of your success and ability to carry on a conversation, interviewing is still not the most pleasant experience. SO STOP MAKING IT SO DANG HARD ON YOURSELF.
I share because I care. Because after 31 years this is the first time that I am experiencing people not showing up for an interview that THEY SCHEDULED.
Be nice to yourself when you are interviewing. Be prepared, be early, be dressed, and DON’T WASTE OTHER PEOPLE’S TIME by not being open and honest.
Transparency: A word that only helps you in the long run.
Need help? Let me help. I won’t waste your time if you don’t waste mine.
