What Is This Job Market?
The harsh reality of finding a job in 2025 and how you, EMPLOYERS can help.
Employers, take a hard look at yourself in the mirror while you read this and let me know your thoughts. Employers, this is what is happening in your neighborhood; to your neighbors, your friends, your peers. You have the power to change it. Read the following and ask yourself; what would you do if you were looking for a new career right now and feeling the following:
What’s wrong with me?
Why won’t anyone interview me?
My resume is great, why no calls?
Too many people have already applied, so why should I?
My resume is not AI generated, should it be?
Is AI taking over recruiting?
How do I make myself stand out?
How long does it take for someone to review resumes?
Why do I never get any responses?
I am running out of money, now what?
I have everything they are asking for, so why don’t they call me for an interview?
Did I really just get ghosted? Really? Why???
I didn’t think it would be this hard, or complicated, or overwhelming
I am a “C” Suite Executive, I should not be unemployed
I don’t have anything else to sell to keep me afloat
I need help
I need a job
I need to be respected
I need to feel valued
I need my manager to stop bullying me
I should be making more money
The fear of the unknown is getting closer
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To everyone looking for a job, or currently hating their job but terrified to lose it: What you all are feeling is real. It is being heard, felt, and more. The problem? NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!
Employers, this mess is on you, sorry to say out loud. You want and need to hire, and yet you overcomplicate the process. In my 32 years of recruiting, I have been through four recessions, (and thankfully we are not in one) and a pandemic, and now this! What ‘this’ is, no one knows. Here are steps employers should be taking right now:
1. Don’t wait for the perfect person, there is no such thing.
2. Don’t feel you have to interview 10 people for the job - You like them, they fit in your company, their skills are amazing, HIRE THEM!
3. If you are advertising, make the candidate read the job description and not just the title so you stop getting inundated by the wrong people.
4. Make sure you have smart and proactive recruiters supporting you.
5. Make sure you value each one of your employees so they stop leaving you.
6. FIRE THE BULLIES!!
There are enough people out there that will respect, value, and retain the employees that deserve it. We are ending our first quarter of the year; it is time to hire and get back to work.
YES, this is in my humble opinion, why isn’t it yours?
