Ghosting, Remote Work, and Flexibility

Recruiting in today’s world is a bit more complex than it was when I first started. But is it? Except for the new terms, “ghosting” and “remote” and “flexibility” it all stays the same. I have been learning how to learn, control, and work around these three words and I have to say it really is a life lesson. And who doesn’t like learning something new when the opportunity arises?

Even when you meet others that “specialize” in a craft, it doesn’t mean they have all the answers, it means they are always learning and wanting to do better.

I never have claimed, nor will I ever claim to have all the answers in what I do, but what I do claim is that I will continue to learn, keep an open mind, and share my findings with you all.

What I have learned about ghosting, remote and flexibility?

Ghosting: Just another name for not showing up. It has always been around in life, someone just put a great marketing name to it is all that we all can relate to.

Remote: Remote working has been around for years. That has not changed, but now more people are aware of it and want it. Some for some really good reasons and I would not even try to fight those reasons, however, I will stand tall when others just, “want it.” Remember, you can’t have it all, but you can come close. Life is real, change happens, and compromise still exists.

Flexibility: This word always got me. When I hear this word, I think of the cartoon character Gumby. For those that don’t remember Gumby, look it up!! Being and wanting to be flexible has always been in our control, most just never had the guts to ask for it. Remember, if you don’t ask, you don’t know what the answer will be. Asking to have some flexibility in the workplace is normally a good thing! For smart owners, they will offer what the employee needs to keep them happy so long as it is not being abused or taken for granted. Then, my friend, you will have a problem.

Want more? Want to learn more on how to work with the changes life is throwing us? Just ask, you never know😊
