You Must Read The Job Description

I just don’t understand at times!

Ok, I’m confused: Many of you out of work, unfortunately, are getting angry. Questions I hear, “Why am I not getting interviews?” “Why was I not chosen to meet the hiring manager?” Well, if you, like a few too many individuals are not reading the job descriptions that are posted, and just reading what you want, you are wasting your time.

Here is my rant as a recruiter:

If the job description says, “you must live in (name any state),” and you send your resume from another state, you are wasting my time! If you send your resume and the job description mentions the salary requirement, like all should (which is a different blog post for another time), and we interview you but you want at least $20k more, you just wasted my time. I don’t care about yours, but I sure care about mine. When I post job descriptions, I do it with purpose. I get as close as possible to what my clients are asking for. I don’t write the full job descriptions, I give you enough to get you excited about the role. I put down the necessary needs and wants and the salary. READ THE JOB DESCRIPTIONS. Don’t just read the title and send your resume over, please read the whole thing. I read your resume, read my job descriptions.

When you take the time, I will take my time; when you send your resume out just to see what sticks, guess what, it doesn’t.

I love what I do, and I do it with purpose. I value my time, my specialty, and the encouragement I try to give to everyone I speak with. Make sure you value yourself, you send your resume out with purpose and not just to see if it sticks. IT NEVER WILL.
