Three Necessary Skills for Interviewers and Interviewees

Are you willing to try?

Do you know you are more powerful than you think?

Stop apologizing for being right.

Elevate to equal footing.

Believe in yourself.

I have been watching a few videos lately and watching how others speak, how they use their body language and tone and how they deliver their message. And when it is good, I find myself really hearing their words, appreciating their message, and giving them the respect they deserve for understanding how to capture their audience.

This thrills me. This excites me. I have always been a person who watches how she delivers a message in person. I try not to have filler words, I speak a bit slower, and I make sure I understand my audience before I speak with them.

I just finished watching a TED Talk and this Transgender Woman was speaking about the privileges of being a man and compared them to her now, being a woman. And I found myself completely engaged in her message.

When you are interviewing, and this message is for both the hiring manager and the applicant, do you take your time delivering your message? Do you know how to capture someone’s interest right away without fear? Do you respect yourself and trust yourself when speaking with someone of authority and or someone that is looking up to you?

If not, why? Why do you question yourself? Or worse yet, apologizing when you are correct.

These are few of the skills necessary to hold a great interview and if you see yourself in these scenarios, reach out to me here to learn how to hone your skills.
