My Guiding Words In 2023

A new year, new thoughts, commitments, plans, goals and more. But where do you start? So many books, articles and podcasts that are out there telling you what to do, how to do it and more.

Welcome to my thoughts. I do contribute to books, I do write a few articles, but I have yet to jump into doing a podcast, (may sometime soon though). So, what do I do? I listen, I encourage, share ideas, wisdom, and experiences with you all. Why? Because I can, and for the most part, you all like to listen.

So, here is my wisdom for the start of 2023: Have your word for the year! That’s right, one word that will guide you, keep you focused and a word you can rely on and use in many ways.

For the first time in my 30 years of Recruiting and Consulting I have two this year. These two words will guide me throughout the year and keep me honest, focused, and open.

BELIEVE-Believe in myself, my work, my personality, my thoughts, and my judgements. Believe in the people around me, those that I help and advise and those that I share my life with it. This word will be my safety word. Question myself, trust myself and keep myself open to all that is around me.

WHY-my second word for the year. Question it all, but don’t go to the negative side, (the believe part comes in here too). I will become my Three-Five-year-old self once again and ask myself and others, Why? Let’s get to the root cause of it all. Let’s challenge ourselves, let’s push ourselves just a bit more. Just enough to see the change, to see me smile more and know what I am doing is for the good.
