Your Resume Should Be As Unique As You Are

I do appreciate people giving advice on resumes. It is always nice to see how others think a resume should look in today’s world. And heck, who knows, when you see one, it may spark your imagination and allow you to put together a resume that you respect.

What I don’t appreciate are individuals who share resumes that are old fashioned. I don’t respect the person who is not out there, day in and day out, working with hiring managers and asking them what they want to see on resumes in today’s world.

Now we have AI generated resumes to make sure your resume looks like the job description.

Really??

So, every resume will look the same? NO!

The beauty of your resume is to have your voice, your story, and your accomplishments on there so others will see the impact you have done and what you can offer them. The beauty of your resume is not that it look like everyone else’s resume.

My personal take on a resume?

  • I want to see what value you will bring to my organization.

  • I want to see the reason and purpose you are sending me your resume.

  • I don’t want to see a resume that has just been sent to me because you saw the title and salary.

  • I want to know you read the job description, maybe even looked at the website so you understand what kind of company I run, (or in my line of work, my clients).

  • I want to see and read you!!

So, if you are compelled to share your methods of how a resume should be in today’s world, do your homework, don’t just give your two-cents. Inflation has gone up a bit people, at least make your contribution worth a buck or two😊.
